JARRITOS GUAVARITA
WHAT WE THINK
Margaritas are the shit. Jarritos (fruit-flavored Mexican soda, for the uninitiated) are also the shit. This cocktail uses Guava Jarritos and peach brandy to offer up a unique, juicy, tangy spin on the traditional marg. Alright, now we’ll shut up. Let’s drink!
WHAT YOU NEED (SERVES 2, DO MATH IF YOU NEED MORE OR LESS)
8 oz. Guava Jarritos
3 oz. tequila silver/blanco (we usually use El Jimador or Espolon but anything works)
1 oz. peach brandy
1 oz. fresh lime juice (one large lime should do the trick)
1 lime, sliced for garnish
margarita salt/kosher salt
cocktail shaker
ice
WHAT TO DO
PREP YOUR GLASS(ES)
Take one of the lime slices you’ll be using for garnish and cut a small slit in the flesh. Place it on the rim of your glass(es) and give it a couple passes all the way around to make sure there’s a layer of lime juice on the rim.
If you have one of those nifty margarita salt tubs, dip your glass in and get that rim salted. If you don’t, NBD. Pour a layer of kosher salt onto a small plate or dish and dip it into that.
FILL YOUR SHAKER
Toss the tequila, brandy and lime juice into your shaker with some ice.
SHAKE YOUR SHAKER
Shake vigorously for a good 20 seconds or so.
START POURING
Remember the glass(es) you salted? Throw a handful of ice in there.
Pour the contents of your shaker evenly between your two glasses. Or if you’re making a jumbo margarita just for yourself, pour it all into one glass, we won’t judge.
Finally, crack open that Jarritos and pour approximately 4 ounces into each glass.
Garnish with a lime slice and start drinking already!
No cocktail shaker? Also NBD. You can go anti-Bond with this and just stir the ingredients together instead of shaking.
Want to get real weird with it? Substitute mezcal for tequila, and instead of just salt on the rim, do a combination of salt and Tajin.
